Limerick City Council
Pride of Place Awards 2009
Pride of Place is about acknowledging the selfless work being done by people in communities all over the island of Ireland. It is a recognition of the work being done to create caring, viable, vibrant and visible communities. It is also about giving local authorities an opportunity to participate in the heart of their communities because they recognise that they have a responsibility also, in addition to providing essential services, to build communities. There are separate competitions for city and county-based community and voluntary groups.
Pride of Place is an initiative of the Local Authority All - Ireland Steering Forum. The forum is hosted by Co-operation Ireland, a charity which as been involved in promoting peace building activities North and South for the past 26 years.
Entry for Pride of Place Awards is via nomination by the local authority only. The City Council will select the entries, from Limerick City, to the Pride of Place (Cities) competition, from the applications that it receives. The entry fee, if selected, will be paid by the City Council.
