Waste Packaging Regulations
The Waste Packaging Regulations are designed to promote the recovery of packaging waste by imposing recycling obligations on suppliers who place packaging or packaged products into Irish Market.
The Regulations impose obligation on all producers of packaging and additional obligations on major producers. Major producers of packaging are suppliers who annually place more than 25 tones of packaging in the Irish Market AND who have an annual turnover of more than €1 million.
A major producer must choose to register for one of the following: Individual Compliance with Local Authority or an Approved Scheme (eg. Repak)
Limerick City Council are committed to identifying major producers in its functional area and ensuring they fully comply with the regulations.
