OPPORTUNITY TO OWN YOUR OWN HOME

Do you wish to own your own house or apartment in the Limerick City Area but do not earn enough to obtain a mortgage.If so, this may be your opportunity:-

Limerick City Council is currently updating its register of applicants who are eligible for affordable housing.

Applicants may qualify under one or more of the following categories:-

1. If you are a first time buyer in need of housing accommodation and the repayments on a mortgage to purchase a property to meet your needs exceed 35% of your net income. ( No income limit applies in this case.Accommodation for this category may be provided under Part V of the Planning & Development Act, 2000 – 2002.)
2. If you are an approved applicant on the City Council Housing Waiting List.
3. If you are a local authority tenant or tenant purchaser who wishes to buy a private house and return your present house to the City Council.
4. If you are a tenant for more than one year of a dwelling provided by a voluntary body under the Capital Loan & Subsidy Scheme who wishes to buy a private dwelling and return your present dwelling to the voluntary body.

In order to qualify under category 2, 3 or 4, your gross household income may not exceed €50,000 per annum in the case of a single person or in the case of a joint incomes the gross household income may not exceed €135,000 calculated as follows:-

Gross Income of Principle earner multiplied by 2.5 plus the gross income of the subsidiary earner.If the result is €125,000 or less, you may be eligible.

If you wish to be included in this Register, please return your completed Application Form to Jennifer Chambers, Social Policy & Housing Department, City Hall, Limerick.

A closing date will apply to each Affordable Housing Scheme Development.  Only applicants who are on the Register at the closing date of each individual Scheme will be considered for that Scheme.
